Personal Statement

Hey there! It’s Melisa Arroyo, your friendly neighborhood counselor.  Here's a bit about me. As an edgy, out-of-the-box person I used to think that being different would make me alone in this world. It wasn't until I understood that everyone has been made lovingly and wonderfully by God as unique individuals who are intricately who are part of a whole that I found my place in the world. I aim to live authentically with love in all that I do. So of course, I am myself even as a counselor. I am a millennial-aged Christian Woman. I am unique and blessed with talents/ gifts that are special to me which allow me to be an effective counselor. I don't think I am better than anyone. I think by uplifting others in their gifts and talents we can create a better world around us.

As a follower of Christ, I know we have our own culture and values that may not look like the norms of the world around us. I know the love of God and the healing we receive from encountering Christ. I know the mental, emotional, physical, and emotional transformations that the good Father provides us.

We as Christians, aim to put God first in all that we do and I want to make sure that that's something I do as a licensed professional. We aim to love others as Christ loved us.

I aim to take the skills and knowledge from my clinical education/training but make sure they are aligned with our faith. That way we can navigate life's challenges with all the gifts God has given us including clinical knowledge and healing.

As a Christian who knows the love of Christ, I am accepting of all of God's creations. I respect people's personal spiritual/ religious journey. So in session, I make sure to create a therapeutic treatment plan which are specific to each individual. I aim to aid in hope, healing, and harmony through mind, body, and spirit.

Disclamimers

*I am not a medical practitioner. I am a Licensed professional counselor - Associate. The state of Texas law allows professional counselors to provide wellness information but does not provide professional counselors with the ability to prescribe.

** I am NOT an emergency mental health care provider. Call 988 for crisis and suicide prevention.

*** I offer general wellness information online. It is not always applicable to everyone. Consult a credible professional for individualized health care services.

****I do not provide services through social media platforms. Due to the importance of your confidentiality and the importance of minimizing dual relationships, I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any social networking site (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc). I believe that adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise your confidentiality and our respective privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship. If you have questions about this, please bring them up when we meet and we can talk more about it.
